Bearings Manufacture

Background

This global manufacturer of bearings had encountered large problems with controlling oil mist from their manufacturing processes:

  • Grinding
  • Honing
  • Turning
  • Drilling

Following a high number of complaints from internal sources and subsequent external investigations, action needed to be taken.

Problem

Most of the machines (several hundred) utilised no oil mist filtration whatsoever, resulting in all of the emulsion mist being simply released into the facility. Improvements were also required on containment. The effect on the facility was severe, with poor air quality and an aggrieved workforce.

Solution

ScandMist conducted a complete site survey, producing full report and accompanying recommendations. Due to the high number of machines, it was recommended that standard ScandMist units be connected to between four and seven machines each, to provide all the performance in the most cost effective manner.

Outcome

Approximately fifty ScandMist systems have been designed and installed. The effect has been exceptional, with both the workforce and management very pleased with the end result - a major improvement in the air quality, in the most cost effective way.
